What made you want to begin Ballroom Dancing?
“I think that the best way to put it, is that I wanted to make use of my time in a healthy, athletic way. I was curious about dance; I had never danced before in my life. I was making changes in my life, and I was bored; I saw trying dance as a way to change that.”
How would you describe yourself outside of dance?
“I am a very introverted and family oriented person. I am also a workaholic.”
How does dancing make you feel?
“Definitely More confident, and a lot less self conscious. Healthier. In addition to lessons, attending and preparing for competitions make me very excited. I am a different person when I dance.”
What has dancing brought to your life?
“Discipline and health. A little bit of humility, which is a good thing for me because I am the boss everywhere else in my outside life! I have learned that within the studio, the number one rule is: the teacher is always right.”
Why Imperial Ballroom Dance Center?
“I started at a social studio which didn’t offer International Latin, and I knew that this other studio wasn’t what I wanted. I had heard about Inna, when Imperial Ballroom was still pretty new, and i knew before i ever came here that this was where I wanted to be.
I have stayed at Imperial Ballroom because it is the best, probably in the whole country. I love my instructor Oleksii, he is one of my favorite people and is an amazing teacher. I have made friends here, met a lot of very nice people, and I like that.”
Any advice to a new student?
“Practice!!! The teacher is always right. always. Also, the competitive dancing is a lot harder than it looks from the outside! Making it look easy is part of what makes it so challenging!”
