There are two styles of Ballroom, International and American:

• International style is danced around the world. In this style we have 2 categories, Standard and Latin.
• Standard: Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, and Quickstep.
• Latin: Cha-Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Double, and Jive
• American Style is danced only in America. In this style we also have 2 categories, Smooth and Rhythm.
• Smooth: Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, and Viennese Waltz
• Rhythm: Cha-Cha, Rumba, Swing, Bolero, and Mambo.

There are also social dance styles such as Latin club dancing (Salsa and Merengue) and Country Western (2-step). Whichever style interests you, Imperial Ballroom can help you be the dancer you’ve always wanted to be.

EXPLANATION OF DANCES

~ International Ballroom Style ~

• Slow Waltz – slow, beautiful, graceful, rotational dance
• Tango – passionate, aggressive, structured dance
• Viennese Waltz – fast, rotational dance with only a few steps
• Slow Foxtrot – smooth, elegant, linear dance
• Quickstep – Fast, fun, exciting, sparkling dance

~ International Latin Style ~

• Cha-Cha-Cha – fast, rhythmical dance
• Samba – fast, progressive bounce dance
• Rumba – slow, emotional dance of love
• Paso Double – Aggressive, dominant, powerful dance
• Jive – The fastest dance in Latin, very fun too do

~ American Smooth Style ~

• Waltz – slow, beautiful, graceful, rotational dance
• Tango – passionate, aggressive, structured dance

~ American Rhythm Style ~
